Ms. Hjh Norlaili Yusof obtained her Post Graduate Diploma (distinction) in Architecture and Urban Design from Oxford School of Architecture, Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom in 1996.
She has professional experience of more than 24 years in architectural practice, property development, project management and construction. She successfully led a variety of projects that required working in cross-functional specialization areas, such as architectural building works, civil works, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP). She is also experienced with works of a special nature, such as “design and built” contracts for the Dubai World Cup Quarantines, Ministry of Interior HQ in Doha, Hotel & Staff Village Accommodation, and the like.
She has an established career in the Middle East and extensive capabilities in large-scale project coordination. She has also been a key player in the delivery of a number of high-profile construction projects to date, the most notable being the AED4.6 billion, award-winning Meydan Grandstand in Dubai.
After several years working abroad gaining vast experience in the International construction industry, Norlaili returned to Malaysia in 2014 and undertook key senior managerial posts as an opportunity to be home and share her experience with the team behind the mixed development projects, Puteri Harbour in Johor and Desaru Development, Desaru Coast.
Due to COVID-19 in 2020, my contract was not extended. I was devastated. Who wants to hire a 50+ year-old? I was up for anything but I was not ready to see my career peaking. At 52, I joined Great Eastern as its agent and financial planner, to work with great leaders on meaningful areas and to plan for my retirement.
A good thing has to fall apart so it can become something better. I had to let go of the past to have a better future. When Life throws you a curveball it’s your chance to hit it out of the park. It’s coming. Be ready. The best is yet to be!
